The Florida Gators enter Week 7 of the college football season looking to somehow stop the bleeding.
After a strong start to the season, including a massive win over Ole Miss, the Gators have fallen down to earth. Florida has dropped two straight games, being blown out by both Missouri and South Carolina in the process.
The Gators are now entering into a very tough part of their schedule, with the team taking on the Texas Longhorns this week. Florida then will be playing the Georgia Bulldogs, giving this team a real challenge ahead of them.
Florida enters the game against the Longhorns with a record of 4-2 on the season, and they have fallen out of the top-25 ranking. Texas comes in with a record of 4-1 on the year, being ranked as the No. 7 team in the nation.
Head coach Jon Sumrall has to figure out how to rally his guys for this game; otherwise, the Gators will be in some trouble. After going 4-0, the Gators are in danger of going 4-4 if they can't win at least one of the next two games.
Entering the game, the Gators aren't being given a very strong chance to take down Texas from ESPN. According to the ESPN matchup predictor, Florida only has a 12.5 percent chance to upset the Longhorns this weekend.
One way for the Gators to pull off the upset this weekend is by getting star running back Jadan Baugh back into the offense. Over the last few weeks, Florida's running game has been limited, with Baugh struggling to get anything going.
Baugh was a little better against South Carolina, rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown. But over the last few weeks, he has slowed down massively, and it has impacted Florida's ability to score.
His Heisman Trophy quest is now over, but Baugh can still do damage on the field for this team. For the season, the running back has rushed for 672 yards and 12 touchdowns, showing a unique ability to generate offense for this group.
This game against Texas will be a tough one for the Gators, especially with it being on the road. But this group wants to prove itself, and if they can take down the Longhorns, it could help them build some serious momentum for the rest of the season.
Kickoff between the Gators and the Longhorns is scheduled to take place at 9:00 a.m. PT/12:00 p.m. ET at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.
