Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney has signed an NIL deal with Red Bull mid-way through his sophomore season. Toney joins the likes of Ohio State‘s Jeremiah Smith, Oregon‘s Dakorien Moore, Texas‘ Arch Manning, and Baylor‘s DJ Lagway as a Red Bull Athlete.
Through five games, Toney has already hauled in 39 receptions for 604 yards (8th-most in FBS) and six touchdowns (T-7th most in FBS). As a freshman last season, Toney led the nation in receptions (109) and ranked fifth in receiving (1,211 yards). He was integral in Miami‘s run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Just last month Toney also inked an NIL deal with both Adidas and FIT House Brands. The Miami superstar is racking in the endorsements as he continues to shine on the field for Mario Cristobal‘s Hurricanes. This is just the beginning for the Liberty City, Fla. native, as he will surely be one of the first names off the board in the 2028 NFL Draft.
Mario Cristobal: Toney is ‘nowhere near his full potential yet’
If you think Malachi Toney is already one of the best payers in college football, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said ‘not so fast.’ Prior to the season, Cristobal claimed that the star sophomore is ‘nowhere near his full potential yet.’
“I think he’s more driven and hungrier than he’s ever been. I think his energy levels just never cease, man. He’s here. It’s every day,” Cristobal said, via The Gramlich & Mac Lain podcast. “There is no like scaling back. There is no throttle down. I think he’s actually 14 pounds heavier than he was before in muscle. The levels of his accelerations and decelerations have reached new personal bests.”
“He is nowhere near his full potential yet I only say that because of his level of work. I don’t think you can put a seal on what that guy can become, what he’s committed to doing. And he’s the same human being. He’s even probably more humble now because he’s so visible in the community. You know, it’s like a mob scene, man. Whenever he shows up at the parks for community service, it’s great.”
Toney and Miami enjoyed a bye-week this past weekend, and will return to the field this Saturday against rival Florida State. The Hurricanes sit at 5-0 on the season, ranked No. 3 in this week’s AP Poll.
