LSU football climbed the US LBM Coaches Poll after a 31-0 win over Mississippi State in Week 7. LSU now ranks No. 17, up from No. 21 last week. LSU needed the win after losing to Kentucky in Week 6.

There's a new No. 1 atop the poll. The Miami Hurricanes assume the top spot after Georgia fell to Auburn. Georgia's loss made it back-to-back weeks with a No. 1 team falling after Texas lost to Oklahoma in Week 6. Ohio State climbed to No. 2 after beating Indiana, with BYU, Georgia, and Texas Tech rounding out the top five.

Notre Dame and Indiana both remain in the top 10 after losses to other top-10 teams. Tennessee jumped to No. 11 after beating Alabama, and the Crimson Tide fell to No. 13.

Mississippi State and Oklahoma State each fell out of the poll, helping LSU rise.

LSU will face Auburn in Week 8. Auburn remains unranked despite beating Georgia in Athens; however, Auburn was listed in the receiving votes section.
