The BYU Cougars remained at No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 College Football poll following a 24-10 win over Iowa State on Friday night.

BYU still stands as the highest-ranked Big 12 team, with Texas Tech (No. 10), Utah (No. 11), Oklahoma State (No. 18) and Houston (No. 20) also representing the conference in the poll. Arizona was also among the teams receiving votes as well. The Cougars' opponent this week is No. 2 Notre Dame, who moved up after last week's No. 1 Texas lost in the Red River Rivalry game to Oklahoma. The SEC foes fought in Dallas until the final seconds.

Georgia is the new No. 1 team in the country. The Cougars and Irish will battle Saturday in Provo for the first-ever top-10 matchup in the history of LaVell Edwards Stadium. This will be BYU's sixth all-time against teams ranked 1st or 2nd in the AP poll, and third such game at home. A win would be BYU's first over a top-2 team since its 1990 home win over No. 1 Miami, according to BYU Athletics.

1988: L 41-17 at (2) Miami

1990: W 28-21 v. (1) Miami

1991: L 44-28 v. (1) Florida State (Anaheim)

2000: L 29-3 at (2) Florida State

2004: L 42-10 v. (1) USC

Outside of Georgia and Notre Dame, the rest of the top five includes Miami, Ohio State and Indiana. The Buckeyes are the only team in that group with a loss. Alabama, Texas, BYU, Ole Miss and Texas Tech round out the top 10 for this week. UCLA is the nation's lowest-ranked undefeated team after pulling off the upset over Oregon.
