LSU football dominated Auburn 38-17 on the road in Week 8. Head coach Lane Kiffin and his team head into the bye week with plenty of momentum after recording back-to-back wins against conference teams.

The Tigers rose to No. 4 in the country in the latest SP+ rankings with a 25.2 rate. SP+, an ESPN statistic, is a tempo and opponent-adjusted measure of efficiency designed to predict future performance. They only rank behind Ohio State (28.6), Georgia (27.1), and Notre Dame (25.2).

Alabama (20.9) and Texas (20.4) join the Bulldogs and Tigers in the top 10. LSU hosts the Crimson Tide and the Longhorns when it returns from the bye week. All three teams enter Week 9 with two losses and need to win out to stay in contention for the College Football Playoffs.

The Tigers passed Miami and Indiana on their way up the SP+ rankings. Their next three games are against ranked opponents. Should they win out, a postseason berth is well within reach.
