The 13th-ranked Missouri Tigers improved to 5-1 (2-1 SEC) on the season with a 27-6 win over the Texas A&M Aggies last week.

With that win, Mizzou is inching closer to a spot in the CFP — but more work needs to be done. According to ESPN, Mizzou has the second-toughest remaining schedule only behind Ohio State.

Per On3’s latest bracketology — Mizzou is the second team out of the field.

That’s about where we’ll peg them, but a win at Ole Miss will put definitely put the Tigers in the picture.

Here’s the latest “Race for the CFP” entering Week 7:

SEC favorite: Georgia

The Bulldogs proved they’re currently the best team in the country with a 20-17 statement win at Alabama last week.

Big Ten favorite: Ohio State

The Buckeyes come in ranked No. 4 in the latest AP Top 25 poll and are 3.5-point road favorites at Indiana on Saturday. Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith are playing at a high-level.

Big 12 favorite: BYU

The Cougars improved to 5-0 on the season, taking care of business in a 24-10 win over Iowa State last week. College Gameday heads to Provo as BYU hosts Notre Dame for a huge opportunity.

ACC favorite: Miami (FL)

Coming off their bye week, the Canes are 5-0 and ranked No, 3 in the country heading into their heated-rivalry vs Florida State on Saturday night.

Automatic Bid: Notre Dame

The Irish are 6-0 and ranked No. 2 in the latest AP Top 25 poll heading into their showdown at No. 8 BYU on Saturday night. CJ Carr looks the part of a Heisman contender.

Group of Six Automatic Bid: Boise State

Boise State is 5-1 and ranked No. 23 in the latest AP Top 25 after an underrated road win at Fresno State last week. The Broncos are at Washington State on Saturday looking to put up some style points.

At-Large Bid Selections:

Indiana:

The Hoosiers are vulnerable this season after escaping with a 20-17 win at Nebraska last week. A win over Ohio State on Saturday would put them back as Big Ten favorites.

UCLA:

The Bruins are off to a 5-0 start under first-year head coach Bob Chesney. Fresh off their statement win at Oregon last week, UCLA is ranked No. 12 in the latest AP Top 25 and has a manageable schedule the rest of the way — starting with Wisconsin at home on Saturday night. However, Nico Iamaleava’s injury looms large.

Alabama:

Despite the loss to Georgia, Alabama proved that they’re legit — but the margin for error is now slim for the Crimson Tide heading into a challenging road game at Tennessee on Saturday.

Ole Miss:

Ole Miss is 4-1 and ranked No. 9 in the latest AP Top 25 after a 52-17 road win over Vanderbilt. Trinidad Chambliss is providing elite quarterback play, but the Rebels rush defense makes them vulnerable. Massive playoff implications for Mizzou vs Ole Miss on Saturday.

Texas:

The Longhorns are still in the playoff picture, for now. But a disappointing loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry leaves Steve Sarkisian’s team with more questions than answers. Texas looks to “get right” on Saturday at home vs Florida.

Kentucky:

The Wildcats are off to a 5-1 start under first-year head coach Will Stein. UK is coming off a 35-34 win over LSU and is at Oklahoma on Saturday night — looking to prove that they belong.
