Kansas State Wildcats first-year coach Collin Klein is 100 percent focused on the Kansas Jayhawks in the Sunflower Showdown.

The goal is to extend the winning streak against the rival Jayhawks to 18. But there is so much more Klein is trying to accomplish if the Wildcats can grab the victory Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The hope is they can impress the recruits Klein has invited to attend the game on official visits. The WIldcats are hosting some of the top high school players in the nation.

Looking forward to being in Manhattan on Saturday for gameday!#YoungHunter#EMAW#AGTG🙏🏿@CoachJDove@CK_KleinCollin@CoachJPeterson@CoachSvarczkopf@galloway__drew@graden_oswald@WFDavis_@PJ_AccelU@CoachDezWalker@Jr1Jeffery@ChadSimmons_@TomLoy247@najehwilk… pic.twitter.com/z0gKb6rL5W

Among them are Tory Clark, a defensive lineman out of Kell High School in Marietta, Ga. He is listed as a three-star player by 247 Sports. A member of the 2028 class, the 6-foot-4, 275-pound Clark already has offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators and Arizona State Sun Devils.

Game Day Visit at #KState this Saturday! Can't wait to experience the excitement, school spirit, and all the action with Wildcat fans. See you there!

The fact the Wildcats are hosting so many players is a good sign for Klein. Even during a two-game losing streak, they are still attracting interest from players. This is what it's going to take for Klein to continue placing his stamp on the program.

Can’t wait to get on campus this Saturday! https://t.co/Gg43n75NSM

The Wildcats already have a top 30 recruiting class for 2027. That includes the likes of cornerback Joshua Vilmael out of Texas and athlete Cooper Ohnmacht Great Bend, Kan. Both are four-star recruits.

I will be at the Kansas state vs KU game this Saturday for a game day visit #gocats@CoachBufordJ@CoachM_Schmidt@PrepRedzoneMO@PrepRedzoneKS@6starfootballMO@6starfootballKS@JPRockMO@KStateFB@RSHS_Football@RSHSsports@PrepstarFloridapic.twitter.com/bc1JHPZxXh

For 2028, the Wildcats have already received verbal commitments from linebacker Malachi Johnson from the St. Louis area and linebacker Taylen Washington out of Derby (Kan.) High School. Both are considered among the top players in their states.

If Klein can get so much done in such a short time period, just imagine what he can do once he gets further acclimated with his new position. He's pretty much still learning on the fly after accepting the head coaching job last December once Chris Klieman decided to resign.

That's why so many think Klein, who was the offensive coordinator for the Texas A & M Aggies for two years before taking over, is the perfect fit in Manhattan. Not only is he once of the most beloved figures in K-State history (he played for the Wildcats from 2008-12), he also knows the lay of the land from a recruiting standpoint.

It appears things will only get better for the Wildcats in terms of bringing in top talent from the Midwest and around the country. They are also in the running for quarterback Tatum Huard, who is a four-star quarterback in the 2028 class. Huard's father, Brock, played in the NFL.

The younger Huard has already visited K-State this season.
