For the first time in almost 30 years, Ole Miss will play against a quarterback with the last name Manning. And just like that 1997 bout against Peyton and the Volunteers, the Rebs will be on the road, as they take on Arch (we think) and the Texas Longhorns.

The Rebels have remained around a three point underdog, which essentially means Vegas thinks these two teams are pretty evenly matched. As you have seen, the SEC is rather unpredictable this season and road teams have struggled mightily.

Speaking of unpredictable and struggling mightily. Arch Manning may need ANOTHER year in college and possibly a new program. Outside of the comeback against Ohio State at the beginning of the season, Manning has been the opposite of clutch.

The biggest factor in favor of Texas is that they are at home. The biggest negative?… All-world pass rusher/game wrecker Colin Simmons likely isn’t playing. That honestly makes me feel sooooooooo much better about our chances. If our defense has legitimately made the right changes, I see no reason the Rebels can’t walk out victorious.

The two teams haven’t met since the Rebels won all the way back in 2013. The Longhorns are currently on a two game skid, losing to Oklahoma and Florida, while the Rebels rebounded from their lone loss with two straight wins over Vanderbilt and Missouri. A third loss will eliminate most teams this year so Texas will be desperate. A loss in Austin wouldn’t be the end of the world for Ole Miss, but the margin of error vanishes almost entirely.
