Following a brutal loss to Northwestern a few weeks ago, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders dismissed three players from his program. Multiple reports have now identified those players.

Defensive backs Jah Jah Boyd, Justin Eaglin and Paul Omodia were removed from the Buffaloes' roster. A Colorado spokesperson confirmed those names ahead of Colorado's Saturday evening matchup with No. 10 Texas Tech, two weeks after Sanders originally said he dismissed them from the team.

Per The Athletic's report, the players will not have a chance to earn their way back onto the roster.

All three players were expected to play a role on the 2026 team, especially Boyd. The Indiana transfer appeared in Colorado's first three games, racking up 13 tackles and one forced fumble. He stood out in CU's win over Weber State, causing Sanders to praise Boyd as a player he could "count on to give everything he has."

Eaglin, a James Madison transfer, appeared in Colorado's first two games after playing 26 games and 14 starts for the Dukes. Omodia came from Lamar, starting 13 games and leading the Southland Conference with 14 forced fumbles.

What do the dismissals mean for the rest of the team?

Considering all three are defensive backs, the dismissals are very concerning for the 2026 Colorado Buffaloes. The defensive back room is now extremely light, with Cree Thomas and Boo Carter the only two legitimate starters left. RJ Johnson, who started several games last season, will likely start opposite Thomas against Texas Tech, as Jason Stokes Jr. is out.

Without Eaglin and Omodia, the lone backup at outside corner, freshman Mojo Williams Jr. Other options include moving Carter outside and Makari Vickers back to the nickel spot, where he struggled mightily early this season. If either Thomas, Johnson or Carter is injured, the Buffaloes' cornerback position will be in serious trouble, if it isn't already.
