The Oklahoma Sooners take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 9 of the 2026 College Football Season. Both teams enter the matchup 4-3. Both Oklahoma and South Carolina have found some momentum in the middle third of the season.
Although Oklahoma has alternated wins and losses this season, they've put together a more sustainable offense in nine of their last 10 quarters dating back to the win over the Texas Longhorns. Aside from the fourth quarter against Kentucky, quarterback John Mateer and the Sooners' running game have looked better than they did in the first four games of the season.
Saturday in Norman provides another opportunity for a successful day as the Sooners take on a Gamecocks defense that ranks No. 53 in the nation in total yards per game. The defenses Oklahoma faced Weeks 1 through 4 this season all rank in the top 15 in the nation.
Defensively, the Sooners have a tough task ahead when they face South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers. In five SEC games, he's averaging 236.4 yards passing and 77.4 yards rushing per game. He's thrown only five interceptions this season and has 19 total touchdowns.
Last year, the Oklahoma defense kept Sellers under pressure, but South Carolina's offensive line has improved, and the offense has gotten a boost from new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles.
The Sooners defense has allowed just 17.7 points per game and ranks No. 11 in the nation in total yards allowed per game.
This will likely be a four quarter game between a pair of teams that are playing good football heading into the final month of the season. Here's how to tune into the action from Norman on Saturday.

- Oklahoma 24, South Carolina 20: The Oklahoma Sooners offense has been better in their last three games than they were in the first four. They've moved the ball with consistency; they've found better balance; and aside from the final five minutes of the fourth quarter against Kentucky, John Mateer has taken care of the ball and managed the game. Against Mississippi State, he played with a lot more confidence and in more of a rhythm than we've seen for much of this season. Mateer builds on the recent run he's been on to lead Oklahoma to another win.
- Spread: Oklahoma by 3 1/2
- Over/under: 44 1/2
- Moneyline: Oklahoma minus-165, South Carolina plus-140
