Week 8 in the SEC produced yet another eventful Saturday of action for the conference overall.
With four SEC teams on a bye, the conference was home to one of college football's most anticipated matchups of the week, a battle of ranked teams as Texas hosted Ole Miss on Saturday night. In addition to that top 25 matchup, four other ranked SEC teams were in action against unranked conference foes, with two going on the road to play in challenging environments.
Many of those same games went on to produce notable results as well, headlined by an upset taking place as South Carolina stunned Tennessee on the final play with a game-winning field goal. Alabama also avoided a near upset at home to Texas A&M with a big fourth quarter, while Texas defeated Ole Miss in a classic.
As a result, there is now one team solely atop the SEC standings based on winning percentage coming out of Week 8, while a number of teams are very close behind with either one-or-two conference losses.
Here is a look at the updated SEC regular season standings entering Week 9.
