The Auburn Tigers will have two weeks to prepare for their next game, and so will their fans.
Auburn football is taking Week 6 off from action and will resume play in Week 7 against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Sanford Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 17. The 131st edition of "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT next Saturday and will air on either ABC, ESPN, or SEC Network. The SEC will determine which network will air the battle between the Tigers and Bulldogs after this weekend's games conclude. Alabama-Tennessee and Missouri-Ole Miss are also awaiting their TV destination for their afternoon-designated games.
The Auburn Tigers are 3-2 on the season, and 1-2 in SEC play. The Tigers most recently dropped a tough game to the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers and will get an extra week to prepare for their toughest test to date, the No. 2 Bulldogs in Sanford Stadium. Georgia is 5-0 but will be tested on the road this Saturday when it travels to No. 7 Alabama.
Georgia leads the all-time series, 66-56-8, and has dominated the series over the last decade. Auburn last beat Georgia on Nov. 11, 2017, taking down the then-No. 1 Bulldogs, 40-17. Georgia got revenge less than a month later, beating Auburn, 28-7, in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia has won nine straight games in the series, matching a streak from 1923-31, when the Bulldogs also won nine straight games over Auburn.
