A 34-27 victory over the then-No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels and another chaotic Saturday around college football allowed the Texas Longhorns to move up in both major polls.

In the AP Top 25, Texas moved up from No. 19 to No. 11 with the win over Ole Miss and losses by Texas Tech, Tennessee, and Houston. The Horns are also No. 11 in the Coaches Poll, up from No. 18.

Miami remains at No. 1 in both polls as Ohio State moved up to No. 2 after BYU’s double-overtime loss to UCF with Georgia at No. 3 and Indiana at No. 4 in the AP Top 25 even though both teams lost last week. The Coaches Poll has Utah at No. 5, ahead of Notre Dame, with the AP poll reversing those rankings.

Next weekend, Texas hosts a reeling Mississippi State program in Austin — the Bulldogs are in the midst of a three-game losing streak and may be without star quarterback Kamario Taylor, who appeared to aggravate his turf toe injury in Saturday’s 23-15 loss to the Sooners.
