Texas linebacker Rasheem Biles and edge rusher Colin Simmons have been named to the 2026 Chuck Bednarik Award preseason watch list. Both players also appeared on the award’s preseason list a year ago.

Biles joined Texas from Pitt this spring after recording 101 tackles and 17 tackles for loss in 2025. Simmons started all 13 games for the Longhorns last season and led the SEC with 12 sacks.

The Bednarik Award recognizes college football’s outstanding defensive player. Texas opens its season Sept. 5 against Texas State in Austin.
