The Tennessee Volunteers are a top ten team coming into this year’s college basketball season. Tennessee, which completely reloaded through the transfer portal, will begin the year as the No. 8 team in the land, according to the preseason AP poll.

This will be Rick Barnes’ 12th year leading the program in Knoxville, and perhaps his most talented on the offensive end. Former Wake Forest standout Juke Harris leads the way, along with VCU transfer Terrence Hill Jr., Notre Dame transfer Jalen Haralson and Cal transfer Dai Dai Ames. The Volunteers return just two contributors from last year’s team — Troy Henderson and DeWayne Brown.

Florida begins as the top team in the country, followed by Duke. Tennessee will face Duke on Tuesday night in a scrimmage. Illinois, UConn and Arizona round out the top five.

Michigan State lands at No. 6, which Tennessee will face in a non-conference matchup.

Florida led the way in the SEC, along with Texas (7), Tennessee (8), Arkansas (12), Alabama (20), Kentucky (23) and Vanderbilt (24).

Tennessee officially opens the season on November 3rd against Wofford.
