South Carolina football continues to watch flashy highlights from quarterback LaNorris Sellers. But fans of the Gamecocks received quite the scare Saturday. Sellers needed to exit the Texas A&M game early.

The dual-threat star quarterback left with a reported ankle injury and needed to enter the medical tent. His head coach Shane Beamer even expressed concern during a mid-game interview.

“We’re concerned. He’s got an ankle right now. They’re taking an X-Ray on it. I don’t know the results right now,” Beamer said.

Sellers sparked pre-NFL Draft buzz two years ago thanks to his dynamic plays. He later pulled off a major offseason coup by opting to return to Columbia, South Carolina and bypass the draft, or even the transfer portal.

Sellers’ loyalty toward the Gamecocks paid off, as South Carolina joined Oregon and Florida as the only three-loss teams earning a ranking in the College Football Playoff poll. South Carolina entered the game needing just one more win to seal bowl eligibility.

South Carolina led 7-6 at the half amid the Sellers injury. Sellers looked efficient on the aerial side: Hitting 10-of-15 passes for 151 yards and throwing a short touchdown pass to Mazeo Bennett Jr.

But the Aggies bottled Sellers as a runner, containing him to just -10 rushing yards on four carries. This contest also pitted Sellers sharing the same field with Texas A&M star and, one time preseason Heisman Trophy contender, quarterback Marcel Reed.

South Carolina racked up 187 total yards at the half. Sellers, however, looked visibly frustrated by his injured ankle during the halftime warmups ahead of the third quarter.
