NORMAN — Oklahoma will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
The Sooners have won a game followed by a loss three times this season and sit at 4-3 after defeating Mississippi State on the road this past weekend.
"You want to have a program, a team that's consistent," OU coach Brent Venables said afterward.
The Sooners have a chance to maintain some momentum when they host South Carolina at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Gamecocks are fresh off an emotional upset over then-No. 11 Tennessee.
Since starting 0-3 in SEC play, coach Shane Beamer and South Carolina have won two consecutive conference games against ranked teams after defeating then-No. 16 Florida on the road on Oct. 10. Beamer was firmly on the hot seat but has gotten things back on track in Columbia.
Beamer coached OU's tight ends from 2018-20 under Lincoln Riley. The last time the Gamecocks came to Norman in 2024 they defeated OU 35-9.

Scouting South Carolina
Record: 4-3 (2-3 SEC)
Best player: The Gamecocks have a few of the best overall athletes in the country. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers put together a great 2024 campaign before struggling for most of last season and at the start of this year. But he showed off his freakish athleticism Saturday against the Volunteers with one of the most impressive 4-yard gains for a touchdown you'll see. Wide receiver Nyck Harbor is a big-play threat at any moment. Defensively, Dylan Stewart wreaks havoc on most offenses he faces — he's recorded two sacks and forced three fumbles in four games this season.
The case for South Carolina: Beamer has the Gamecocks rolling. Momentum can be a real thing. If Sellers limits his turnovers and South Carolina's defense forces OU quarterback John Mateer, it'll have a good chance on the road. This league has proven week in and week out that anything can happen.
The case for OU: If Mateer performs like he did against the Bulldogs, the Sooners should win. Mateer wasn't sensational but he didn't have to be. With an elite defense, OU just needs Mateer to play smart, turnover-free football. The Sooners will likely need kicker Tate Sandell to be better, though.
