South Carolina added another recruit to its 2027 recruiting class on Sunday, as four-star defensive lineman Nate Kamba flipped his commitment from Auburn to the Gamecocks. The announcement came less than 24-hours after South Carolina defeated No. 11 Tennessee 27-24 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Kamba, who attends Corvian Community School in Charlotte, North Carolina, watched the Gamecocks’ win in person. South Carolina clinched the victory with a last-second field goal, prompting fans to flood the field.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 300 pounds, Kamba is the No. 10 prospect in North Carolina and the No. 30 defensive lineman nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Rivals’ Industry Ranking places him at No. 242 overall in the 2027 class and No. 28 among defensive linemen.

Kamba committed to the Tigers in June after narrowing his choices to Auburn and South Carolina. However, he continued considering his options before announcing his change of commitment. He had also visited the Gamecocks officially in early June, alongside visits to NC State and the Tigers.
South Carolina’s coaching staff maintained its recruitment of Kamba through defensive line coach Travian Robertson and defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas. Kamba previously spoke positively about Robertson following his official visit to Columbia. The Gamecocks were also among the earliest programs to offer him a scholarship, extending an offer in January 2025. Ohio State had offered him first.
Across three seasons of high school football, Kamba has produced consistently, recording 128 tackles, 14 sacks and 50 tackles for loss, according to MaxPreps.
His decision brings South Carolina’s 2027 class to 18 verbal commitments. Kamba becomes the second four-star interior defensive line prospect in the group, joining John Archer of Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Other North Carolina recruits in the class include cornerback Joshua Dobson, safety Davion Jones and three-star edge rusher Jayden Broadie.
