Oklahoma football will have left tackle Michael Fasusi available against Mississippi State on Saturday, giving quarterback John Mateer help on an offensive line dealing with multiple absences.
The sophomore has not played since leaving the Sooners’ season-opening 51-0 win over UTEP with a right shoulder injury. He initially sustained the injury during fall camp and played only part of the first quarter against the Miners.
Fasusi practiced throughout the week but remained questionable before being omitted from the final SEC availability report.

On3’s Pete Nakos shared an update Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, confirming Fasusi’s availability after reporting earlier that morning that the tackle would be a game-time decision.

Fasusi, a former five-star recruit from Lewisville, Texas, is projected to reclaim his starting left tackle position.
His availability comes with replacement left tackle Ryan Fodje and fellow offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis ruled out. Fodje started the previous five games in Fasusi’s absence.
Mateer avoided a sack in the opener but has taken at least three in four of Oklahoma’s five games since. Kentucky sacked him five times during last week’s 21-13 victory over the Sooners.
Oklahoma averages 311.5 total yards per game, ranking 126th nationally, and 92.5 rushing yards per game, ranking 136th.
Mateer has completed 65.1% of his passes for 1,308 yards, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Sooners enter 3-3 overall and 1-2 in SEC play after losing two of their last three games. Mississippi State is 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference competition, coming off consecutive losses.
The programs’ first meeting kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT on SEC Network at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.
