LSU football climbed the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday, moving up to No. 10 after a 63-14 win over McNeese in Week 5. LSU moves on spot after ranking No. 11 last week.
Two SEC teams, Texas and Georgia, held their No. 1 and No. 2 spots at the top of the poll. Notre Dame, Miami, and Indiana rounded out the top five. LSU handled business in Week 5, as they were expected to do against an FCS opponent. LSU ran 101 plays and racked up over 700 yards of total offense. It was among the most prolific offensive performances in LSU history. QB Sam Leavitt completed 18/23 passes and tossed three touchdowns.
Sophomore running back Harlem Berry also emerged, totaling a career-high 125 rushing yards. True freshman Deuce Geralds kept it rolling with another sack, now up to five for the year.
Next up for LSU is a trip to Kentucky. The Wildcats rank No. 25 after beating South Carolina in overtime on Saturday.
