The Texas Longhorns have been under scrutiny, and fans are extremely disappointed with the team’s back-to-back losses. On Saturday, October 17, the organization again suffered a shocking 27–24 loss against the Florida Gators. The defeat has put a lot of pressure on the head coach, as his leadership and the team’s ability to meet its championship expectations are now being questioned.

Texas Loss Puts Steve Sarkisian Under Growing Pressure
In a recent episode of CBS Sports’ college football coverage, analyst Brian “B.J.” Jones shared his views on the head coach and the organization’s loss and said:
“No doubt. Yeah, they had the lead, and one of those touchdowns was on special teams. So the offense once again was putrid, just like the second half last week versus Oklahoma.”
“They need to get the offensive line fixed. They need to get Arch Manning fixed. And let’s just say this: it’s about to get hot in here. Steve Sarkisian, he ain’t seen nothing yet. It was fascinating listening to you talk about it’s not the offensive line. You point to the offensive line. You point to Arch. You imagine what that coaching staff room is going to sound like in terms of what the problem is, because this defense had given up yard after yard over the last few weeks in the SEC, and they didn’t give up 300 today at home. They were the SEC’s worst and certainly the worst passing defense, and Texas had 77 passing yards in the first half. It’s broken.”
“The bottom line is this: Texas’ level of talent is high, but they are playing well below that, and there is no other place to point than right there. But under 300 total yards against the SEC’s worst defense and a Florida team that was really struggling coming into this one.”

The organization entered the season with high hopes but has struggled to maintain consistency since the very beginning. The back-to-back losses could ultimately affect the head coach’s approach and put his coaching decisions under greater scrutiny.
Arch Manning’s performance has also come under criticism. Against Florida, Manning completed 14 of 20 passes for 173 yards and one touchdown, but Texas struggled to generate enough offense to protect its lead. His late fumble proved particularly damaging, giving Florida an opportunity to close out the game.
The upcoming matches will be crucial for the Longhorns as they attempt to regain fans’ trust and rebuild momentum. Sarkisian and his coaching staff must identify the key issues affecting the team and find effective solutions before the situation worsens. Improving the offensive line, helping Manning perform with greater confidence, and establishing a more balanced offensive approach will be essential.
The players must also take greater responsibility for their performances and execute their game plan more effectively. It remains to be seen whether Texas can overcome its recent struggles and return to the level of performance expected from a championship contender.
