Florida football bounced back from its two-game skid in a big way in Week 7, scoring a huge road upset over the Texas Longhorns, 27-24, in what could be the biggest victory of the 2026 campaign so far. The Gators won for the first time ever in Austin while notching their first road win over a top-10 team since 2012.
Following college football's seventh official week of play, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg released his latest re-ranking of all 138 FBS teams. In it, Florida rose eight spots back into the top 25 to No. 25 — between No. 24 Boise State and No. 26 Auburn.
The Gators also re-entered the top 25 in both major polls and are now ranked No. 24 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the AP Top 25.
The SEC still has nine schools in the USA TODAY Sports re-rank top 25 this week, with fourth-ranked Georgia holding onto the headline spot, along with Ole Miss (No. 7) and Tennessee (No. 8) among the top 10. Kentucky (No. 13), Alabama (No. 16), Texas (No. 17), LSU (No. 21), Missouri (No. 22) and Florida (No. 25) round out the rest of the top-ranked teams, while Auburn (No. 26) and Mississippi State (No. 27) lurk on the outside looking in.
Next up, Florida has a bye week before facing Georgia in the annual rivalry game on Saturday, Oct. 31, which will be played in Atlanta and broadcast on ABC starting at 3:30 p.m. ET.
