DURHAM, NC − Tennessee basketball point guard Terrence Hill Jr. went down with an injury early in the first half of the Vols' 103-64 loss at Duke on Oct. 20 and did not return.
Hill, a transfer from VCU, was dribbling up the court after a made basket and took a spill while trying to set up the offense at the 15:22 mark of the first half. He was grabbing at his left ankle as he went down and had to be helped off the floor by two Vols assistants.
UT coach Rick Barnes said after the game that Hill turned his ankle when it was inadvertently stepped on. Barnes added that he didn't know the severity of the injury.
Hill returned to the Tennessee bench in the second half with crutches in his hands.
Hill was making his first start with the Vols and was replaced by Troy Henderson, who finished with 10 points and an assist in 15 minutes played. Freshmen Marquis Clark and Manny Green and senior Dai Dai Ames played the majority of the backcourt minutes for the Vols in the second half.
The No. 9 Vols trailed No. 2 Duke 14-2 as Hill went to the locker room. He had scored two points on a pair of free throws before exiting the game. He had 22 points, three rebounds, three assists and three turnovers in the Vols' first exhibition vs. Xavier on Oct. 15.
