The rematch of the Big Ten Championship game from last season did not disappoint in Bloomington between Indiana and Ohio State.
It was a matchup the defending Big Ten and national champions couldn't win a second year in a row.
The Hoosiers had several chances late in the fourth quarter to preserve their win, but they weren't able to prevail. Their best chance came in the final seconds, when Josh Hoover found Nick Marsh for a walk-in touchdown but Marsh's left foot was out of bounds when he made the catch.
Indiana vs Ohio State final score: Highlight from top-5 matchup
With that, the Hoosiers dropped their first home game in the Curt Cignetti era, as Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes left Bloomington with a 19-15 win over Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 17. The loss for Indiana snaps its 22-game win streak as well.
The loss for Indiana means it will drop in the top 25. But where will the Hoosiers be ranked in the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 poll on Sunday when they're released? Here's a look at where Cignetti's squad might find itself:
Where will Indiana fall in college football rankings after Ohio State loss?
First, the path to the College Football Playoff is very much intact for the Hoosiers, as Saturday's loss is just Indiana's first loss of the season.
Last week, voters in both the Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll did not penalize Alabama for its three-point loss to Georgia, a game the Crimson Tide still had a chance to win in the closing moments before a series of controversial no-calls — including a potential defensive pass interference penalty that helped derail that opportunity. Whether voters take a similar approach this week remains to be seen, but if Ohio State or Indiana suffers a close loss, a drop of only one to three spots in the rankings would not be surprising.
Below is a look at how the rest of the top 10 schedule for Week 7 of the season:
