The Week 7 matchups are very good this Saturday. Here are a few players to keep your eyes on.
Jadan Baugh and Florida will be looking to stop a two-game losing streak as they head to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns. Baugh is considered to be one of, if not the best, running backs in college football, but he has had his struggles over the past two weeks. Baugh will be facing off against a very stout Texas defense, and if he can’t be his dominant self, it could be a long day for the Gators. This game kicks off at 11 a.m. on ABC.
Another fantastic matchup will feature Missouri, which seems to be the hottest team in the SEC, traveling to Oxford to take on Ole Miss. This is a homecoming of sorts for QB Austin Simmons. Simmons has had a great season so far and is even on par with Trinidad Chambliss. Both QBs have thrown for 1,430 yards. Simmons has 14 TDs and 1 INT, while Chambliss has 11 TDs and 4 INTs. Another player to watch in this game will be Jamal Roberts. The Missouri rushing attack has found its groove, and that’s largely due to Roberts having back-to-back explosive performances, rushing for over 200 yards in each of the past two games. Can Simmons and Roberts stay hot? Or will Chambliss find his Superman cape and protect the home field? These players will be taking each other on at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Jeremiah Smith is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the sport. He is living up to and exceeding all expectations. This week, the challenge takes another step as Smith and the Buckeyes are locked into a top-five Big Ten matchup with Indiana. Indiana has one of the best defenses in the country, and if that defense can do the unthinkable and slow down Smith, the Hoosiers might be able to pull off the victory. The Buckeyes will head to Bloomington to play Indiana at 11 a.m. on Fox.
Finally, it’s time to mention the most overlooked player in the nation so far this year. True freshman Jesse Legree is having a campaign similar to that of the aforementioned Jeremiah Smith. Yes, a true freshman is playing on the same level as a player who is contending to be the first overall selection in this spring’s draft. Legree is averaging 155 yards per game, and so far, he has 932 yards and 12 TDs on 38 catches. He is averaging an astounding 24.5 yards per catch, all through just six games. He is leading the FBS in nearly every major receiving category. You can watch this freshman phenom on Saturday at 5 p.m. on USA as the Oregon State Beavers host the Washington State Cougars.
