Week 7 ended late Saturday evening, with Colorado closing out the Saturday slate with a Hail Mary attempt that fell short well past midnight MT. It was the Buffaloes' fourth straight loss, with their record moving to 2-4 (0-3 Big 12). While the Buffaloes showed more fight and had a chance for the entire 60 minutes, the US LBM Coaches Poll doesn't award moral victories, and the Buffs had no chance at being ranked. With upsets across college football, the Big 12 was rewarded.
Four Big 12 teams, including Utah, beat the Buffs 27-24 in Week 7. BYU beat No. 2 Notre Dame and moved up five spots to No. 3. After a dominant win over Arizona State, Texas Tech moved up four spots to No. 5, giving the Big 12 two top-5 teams. Utah rounds out the conference's top 10 representation, moving up two spots to No. 9 after its win in Boulder.
Houston is the final ranked Big 12 team after they beat Oklahoma State to move to 6-1. The Cougars are No. 16 in the updated poll. OSU fell out of the poll following the loss.
Arizona leads the receiving-votes section as the first unranked Big 12 team, with 141 votes. The Cowboys are right behind them with 87 votes.
Elsewhere in college football, the top 10 saw a major reshuffle after No. 1 Georgia lost to Auburn, along with several other top-10 losses. Miami took over the top spot after an overtime win over Florida State and Ohio State moved up three spots to No. 3 after narrowly staving off Indiana. Georgia dropped to No. 4 and Notre Dame fell to No. 8.
Texas fell 12 spots to No. 18 after losing at home to Florida. The Gators moved up nine places after the win to No. 24. Missouri fell eight spots after a blowout loss to Ole Miss. Mississippi State (No. 19) and Oklahoma State (No. 20 fell out of the poll following losses.
