Florida football suffered its first loss of the season and the Jon Sumrall era last Saturday in Missouri, where the Tigers trounced the visitors, 45-17, effectively cooling the hype that had built up behind the program over the first four weeks.

In CBS Sports' latest SEC power rankings put together by Austin Nivison, the Gators slipped a couple of spots but remain among the top five schools in the conference at No. 5. They now sit between fourth-ranked LSU and sixth-ranked Ole Miss.

"College football is a week-to-week sport, and Florida made that very clear in Week 5. The Gators were the talk of the town entering that matchup after a huge win over Ole Miss, and Missouri was a team full of question marks," Nivison begins.

"Then the Tigers absolutely smashed the Gators, effectively derailing Jadan Baugh's Heisman Trophy campaign in three hours. Florida is still a very good team, but it's far from invincible."

Next up, the Orange and Blue returns to the Swamp to host South Carolina for its annual homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 10. The action kicks off early with a 12:45 p.m. ET start time and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
