With the Florida football team winning the showdown against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon in upset fashion, 27-24, it marked the second straight loss by the Longhorns to an unranked team. As Florida football quarterback Tramell Jones outshone Arch Manning, as he filled in for the injured Aaron Philo, head coach Jon Sumrall was seen enjoying the win in a way that will make any Longhorns fan upset.
As captured after the shocking win, Sumrall was seen leaving the stadium in a cowboy hat after the Gators entered Texas Memorial Stadium and left as victors, which snapped a two-game losing streak.
“Jon Sumrall brought out the cowboy hat after Florida’s upset win over No. 7 Texas,” the Fox College Football account wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

It was no doubt a resilient win as the Gators were down 10-0 in the first quarter to the Longhorns, but would come back in the second quarter with 10 points of their own, though still trailing by seven points at halftime.
“We played about as awful as we could in the first quarter, and we kept fighting; we didn’t do that the past couple of weeks, to be honest with you,” Sumrall said, via Gators wire. “When things got tough, we flinched the last couple weeks. Our team grew today — without the win — because we fought.”

Stepping in for the injured Aaron Philo was quarterback Tramell Jones, who threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 41 yards on the ground. While it “wasn’t perfect,” as Sumrall said, the coach was impressed with how Jones “battled.”
“Well, it wasn’t perfect. He knows that. He missed some things, but he battled. I love both our quarterbacks. The way they’ve handled themselves through external people maybe wanting to create controversy or BS,” Sumrall said.
The Florida football team looks to take the huge win over the No. 7 Longhorns and carry that momentum to their next game on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31, when the Gators take on the Georgia Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 1 in the nation as of this Saturday.
