With the Florida football team preparing for the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, the injury status of quarterback Aaron Philo has been on the minds of many in the fanbase. As an injury update for the Florida football quarterback has been revealed, it’s not one that fans want to hear.
According to college football insider Matt Zenitz, Philo’s “status is in question” for the matchup between the Gators and the Longhorns. Philo has been practicing, but in limited fashion.
“Florida quarterback Aaron Philo’s status is in question heading into Saturday’s game against No. 7 Texas due to an injury, sources tell [CBS Sports],” Zenitz wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Has been limited in practice this week. Class of 2025 four-star recruit Tramell Jones would start if Philo is unavailable.”

Philo would get injured in last Saturday’s 38-16 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks, during a run attempt by the quarterback in the fourth quarter. Coming into the game was Tramell Jones, who threw for 40 yards, completing six of his eight pass attempts, while throwing an interception, though leading the Gators on a touchdown drive late in the contest.
So far this season, Philo has thrown for 1,341 yards to go along with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. It remains to be seen if he’ll be back for the big outing against Texas, though he will be listed as “questionable” for the contest, according to ESPN’s college football insider Pete Thamel.
At any rate, it’ll be a tough hill to climb against the Longhorns, though the team that was once ranked No. 1 in the nation lost to the unranked Oklahoma Sooners last Saturday, as the Florida football team looks to do the same.
