After dismantling Arkansas 34-7 on Saturday, the SEC announced that Texas A&M kicker David Olano earned Co-Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

A senior transfer from Illinois, Olano shared the weekly special teams award with Tennessee punter Jackson Ross, as the Vols defeated Auburn 24-14. Olano was nails from long distance, driving home a 50-yarder and a 57-yarder, the longer of which came right before halftime. The 57-yard field goal is the longest made kick by a Maroon and White placekicker since Terrance Kitchens’ 62-yarder vs. Southern Miss on September 25, 1999. Prior to Saturday, the most recent Aggie to have multiple 50+ field goals in a game was Randy Bond on November 2, 2024 at South Carolina (52 and 54 yards).

Olano has yet to miss a kick (field goal or extra point) this season, starting 7-for-7 on field goals and 19-for-19 in the PAT department. Per the Texas A&M Sports Information Department, “Olano is the first Aggie kicker to start a season 7-for-7 since Todd Pegram made his first 12 attempts in 2004.”

This weekly award is the first career distinction for Olano, first for an Aggie in 2026 and first since Daymion Sanford (Defensive POTW) and Cashius Howell (Defensive Lineman OTW) were selected for the week of November 8 (a 38-17 road win over Missouri).

Speaking of the Tigers, Texas A&M (3-2, 1-2 SEC) will be back in action on Saturday, October 10 at 11 a.m. as they travel to Columbia, Mo., to take on No. 14 Missouri (4-1, 1-1). The matchup from Memorial Stadium can be seen on ABC.
