A day after the University of Cincinnati inducted former Bearcats and NFL players Jason Kelce and Connor Barwin into the James P. Kelly UC Athletic Hall of Fame, it's the 100th Homecoming game at Nippert Stadium.

Undefeated No. 8 Texas Tech hits town for the first time at 6-0 against the 4-2 Bearcats, who have dropped back-to-back road games at Arizona and West Virginia. The Red Raiders are the first of four current Top 25 teams on UC's schedule over the remaining six games. Oct. 31 is another home date against No. 10 Utah, while Nov. 7 is a road game at No. 14 Houston. The regular season ends Nov. 28 at BYU, which just jumped to No. 2 with a defeat of Notre Dame in Provo.

No 'Sorsby Bowl' for UC Bearcats, Texas Tech

When UC's former quarterback Brendan Sorsby signed with Texas Tech after two seasons with the Bearcats, this game was on everyone's radar. Sorsby played it up by showing up at a UC basketball game in Lubbock in February and teasing his ex-classmates.

Shortly after, gambling issues became public and after several court maneuvers, Sorsby was ruled ineligible. With the NFL passes on a supplemental draft, Sorsby is now training for the spring NFL Draft and Will Hammond is driving the Red Raider machine.

JC French IV has stepped in as the 2026 quarterback and has not yet thrown an interception. His 389 yards and three touchdowns at West Virginia were a career game. French has thrown for four more yards than Hammond with three more touchdown passes, but Hammond has the better quarterback rating and his team is unblemished.

French may need another such performance as Texas Tech is No. 5 in the country against the run, allowing just 82 yards per game. Last week, Arizona State was held to just 35 rushing yards vs. the Red Raiders.
