Country music star Riley Green may be an Auburn fan, but the Jacksonville, Alabama native is honoring his family's Crimson Tide allegiance ahead of the Third Saturday in October.

Green teamed up with former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning to release "Alabama Vs. Tennessee" on Monday, Oct. 12, just days before Alabama football travels to Knoxville to face the Volunteers.

And yes, Manning sings on the track, or at least the same kind of rhythmic, talk-singing that Green has become famous for.

While Manning's time at Tennessee is well documented, Green's connection to the Crimson Tide is more complicated.

The singer has openly supported Auburn and also played college football at Jacksonville State, where he was a quarterback, but his father and grandfather were Alabama fans. He previously discussed his family's divided football allegiances on Southern Living's "Biscuits & Jam" podcast. It's also not Green's first musical nod to the rivalry. His song "Hell of a Way to Go" references watching Alabama beat Tennessee, a lyric that drew boos during an April performance in Nashville. Green responded by reminding the crowd that he's actually an Auburn fan. Now, Green and Manning have brought the rivalry into the recording studio. The song takes a lighthearted approach to one of college football's fiercest rivalries, with Green and Manning trading playful jabs over their respective sides of the Alabama-Tennessee divide.

Set in a bar, the duet finds the two discovering they share plenty of common interests other than football, from drinking beer and wearing boots to listening to country music. Rather than fueling tensions, the song suggests that even fans on opposite sides can get along and let the teams settle the rivalry on the field. Its message is perhaps best summarized by the lyric, "It ain't you going up against me; it's Alabama versus Tennessee."

The song arrives ahead of Alabama's Saturday, Oct. 17, trip to Neyland Stadium, where the Crimson Tide will seek its first road victory over Tennessee since 2020.
