It's a date college football fans circled in the summer.
Nov. 7 is finally here. Week 10 of the college football season is without question the best collection of games in the 2026 regular season. It comes on the heels of Tuesday's unveiling of the first College Football Playoff rankings, and at least a half dozen matchups between teams in the AP Top 25 should be on the schedule.
Who has the edge between Miami and Notre Dame in a rematch of last year's 27-24 instant classic with CFP fallout that resonates a year later? The "Holy War" is at its peak on the field between Utah and BYU in the Big 12.
Georgia and Ole Miss meet in a rematch of last year's CFP quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl. Alabama faces LSU in Death Valley. The Kentucky-Tennessee result will have huge implications in the playoff race. The Big Ten matchup between Iowa and Northwestern is on our radar. We're out of breath just thinking about it.
Why would you do anything else but watch college football? Here is a first look at Week 10 of the college football season.
Week 10 matchups between ranked teams
1. Miami (8-0) at Notre Dame (7-1), 7:30 p.m., NBC
This will be the first top-five showdown between the Hurricanes and Irish since the legendary "Catholics vs. Convicts" game in 1988. Miami survived a 38-35 shootout with North Carolina, and Notre Dame shook off a slow start in a 35-13 victory against Navy. Quarterbacks Darian Mensah and CJ Carr should put on a show in South Bend, and the matchup on the perimeter with Miami receiver Malachi Toney and Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore is must-see TV. When nostalgia collides with the present tense in this fashion, special things happen.
2. BYU (7-1) at Utah (8-0), 12 p.m., TBD
It's the first top-10 showdown between the Cougars and Utes and just the fifth matchup where both teams are ranked. The teams split the previous four ranked matchups. Utah has the inside draw at the Big 12 championship game, and the Cougars need this one without the benefit of Texas Tech on the schedule. BYU has won the last three meetings.
3. Georgia (7-1) at Ole Miss (6-2), 7:30 p.m., ABC
The Rebels have won two of the last three meetings against Georgia. Trinidad Chambliss averaged 340.5 total yards with five TDs and no interceptions in two meetings against the Bulldogs last season. Can he put Ole Miss on his back in a must-win situation against a Georgia defense that recalibrated in a 27-8 victory against Florida? It's part of another loaded SEC schedule.

4. Alabama (6-2) at LSU (6-2), 3:30 p.m., ABC
Is this an elimination game in the CFP playoff race? The pressure is on coaches Lane Kiffin and Kalen DeBoer in a new variation of this SEC rivalry. DeBoer is 2-0 against the Tigers – and that includes a convincing 42-13 blowout at Tiger Stadium in 2024. LSU outscored Clemson, Texas A&M and Mississippi State 117-16 in Death Valley. Could Sam Leavitt make a late Heisman push for LSU? This is the launch point.
5. Kentucky (7-1) at Tennessee (6-2), 6:15 p.m., ESPN
Kentucky is the surprise team of the season in the SEC – and this begins a three-game stretch against Tennessee, Florida and Missouri. If the Wildcats can win two out of three – then a SEC championship game berth is possible. The Vols average a FBS-best 4.4 sacks per game – and Xavier Gilliam has 6.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Tennessee is 5-0 against Kentucky under coach Josh Heupel.
6. Texas (6-2) at Missouri (6-2), 12 p.m., TBD
The Tigers are 4-0 at home this season with blowout victories against Florida and Texas A&M, and running backs Jamal Roberts and Ahmad Hardy, who returned from an offseason gunshot wound, combined for 178 rushing yards in a 34-10 win against Arkansas. Arch Manning had three TDs and no interceptions in a 31-3 victory against Mississippi State. This is the first meeting between old Big 12 members in the SEC.
Don't forget about …
Oregon (5-3) at Ohio State (6-2), 3:30 p.m., CBS
Backup quarterbacks Dylan Raiola and Luke Fahey are in the spotlight in this Big Ten matchup between the Ducks and Buckeyes that doesn't quite meet the preseason hype but still will carry a lot of weight at The Shoe. Oregon found its footing in a 34-26 victory against Northwestern. Ohio State has not lost three regular season games since 2011.

Iowa (6-2) at Northwestern (6-2), TBD
Who knew an old Big Ten West matchup would carry this much meaning? The Hawkeyes beat Wisconsin 30-0. Northwestern took its second loss in a 34-26 shootout at Oregon. The Wildcats average 40.3 points per game at the new Ryan Field. Iowa has won the last four meetings in the series.
Virginia Tech (6-2) at SMU (6-2), 7 p.m., ESPN (Friday)
Are the Hokies a surprise November contender in the ACC under James Franklin? A road trip to SMU will tell the tale. The Mustangs are coming off a 30-27 loss at Syracuse. This is the definition of a true elimination game. Virginia Tech still has Miami, and SMU still has Notre Dame. Both of those games are Nov. 21.
