The Washington Huskies hosted several high-priority targets in the 2028 class on unofficial visits for their Big Ten opener against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, including three-star defensive back Xavier Sandhu.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound product of Brophy College Preparatory in Chandler, Arizona, is ranked as the No. 976 overall prospect and No. 97 cornerback in the 2028 class according to the Rivals Industry and has seen his stock rise since secondary coach John Richardson extended an offer to him in June.

Sandhu holds nine offers, with Arizona, Colorado, Miami, North Carolina, Penn State, and UCLA also among the programs interested in securing his pledge, and an early game day visit appears to be a good sign of where Jedd Fisch's coaching staff stands at this point.

After an amazing conversation with @CoachJRich I am blessed to have received an offer from the University of Washington☔️☔️☔️ #Godawgs@jason247scout@FootballBrophy@therealbeadle@BrandonHuffman@ZekeSandhu@CoachReedLive@UW_Football@Kvandenbosch93@247Sports@CoverageU_pic.twitter.com/w5pJQSXGE0

On film, Sandhu moves between outside cornerback and safety, demonstrating the versatility and football IQ that defensive coordinator Ryan Walters looks for in his defensive backs. With his size and length, Sandhu is most likely destined to wind up as a cornerback at the college level, where he could thrive in press-man coverage, a technique Richardson has become adept at teaching.

Sandhu also shows off impressive physicality as a tackler, which is a key feat in Walters' scheme, as he asks a lot of his cornerbacks in both run defense and occasionally as blitzers.

As the Huskies continue to turn their attention to the 2028 class, Sandhu is a name Fisch's staff is watching closely behind some of its top targets at cornerback: four-star Nekhi Lambeth and three-stars Mykel Ramos and Jordan Slye Jr.
