No. 14 Tennessee (5-1, 2-1 SEC) defeated Arkansas (2-4, 0-3 SEC), 24-17, in Week 6 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Tennessee sophomore quarterback George MacIntyre earned a win in his first career start. He completed 18-of-29 passing attempts for 247 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The 6-foot-6, 208-pound signal-caller had a 131.2 quarterback rating against the Razorbacks.
MacIntyre is from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee. He became the first Tennessee native to start at quarterback for the Vols since Murfreesboro, Tennessee native Jauan Jennings opened the South Carolina game on Oct. 26, 2019 as a wildcat quarterback.
The last Tennessee native to start at quarterback in a traditional role for the Vols was Sevierville, Tennessee native Joey Mathews against Southern Miss on Sept. 2, 2000.
The last Nashville, Tennessee-area native to start at quarterback in a traditional role was Jim Maxwell. He started for the Vols against Arkansas in the 1971 Liberty Bowl.
