Texas A&M held a 20-17 lead against No. 13 Alabama on the road early in the fourth quarter, but thanks to a botched snap due to poor communication from starting quarterback Marcel Reed and center Mark Nabou, the Aggies dropped their fourth game of the season after allowing back-to-back touchdown drives, falling 31-20 in Week 8.

I don't need to tell you that it's been an utter disaster of a season, and for those hoping for solutions, it's hard to see where the Aggies go after the Week 9 bye week, especially if Marcel Reed continues as the starter, while A&M has yet to show its ability to close games, which starts and ends with third-year coach Mike Elko.

It's clear Texas A&M is a bad football team that could easily finish 4-8 given the tough schedule ahead: South Carolina on the road, Tennessee at home, Oklahoma on the road, and Texas at home over the next five weeks. In this writer's opinion, the coaching staff must change, and backup quarterback Brady Hart needs more reps.

Across the rest of the SEC, Texas defeated Ole Miss 34-27 to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive, while Kentucky's blowout home win over Vanderbilt has put the Wildcats atop the SEC standings. Nationally, Miami looks like the best team in the country, and no other team comes close to being a true championship contender.
