Just a few days after four-star quarterback Levi Kerr announced his commitment to the North Carolina Tar Heels, four-star tight end Gregory Kirwan has done the same.

Kirwan is a 6-foot-5, 232-pound TE who currently plays for Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN.

According to Inside Carolina's Don Callahan, first-year tight end coach Caleb Pickrell was influential of his commitment.

Pickrell had Kirwan come to town for a pair of games, so while he didn't attend the same two as Kerr, it's clear that a pair of marquee visits has been enough to get the job done, up to this point.

UNC now has not one, but two incoming four-star recruits in the class of 2028. These players go to show how quickly things can change in the world of college athletics as the Tar Heels previously had no commitments, but suddenly are building a tremendous new set of offensive weapons in a few years time.

Everything to know about Kirwan

According to 247Sports, Kirwan is the No. 21 tight end in the class of 2028. He's a top-400 overall player, and is listed as the No. 19 player in the state of Tennessee.

For reference, 14 is the magic number for Rivals as he's the No. 14 overall tight end in the class and is who they believe to be the 14th best player in the state.

Notable schools to offer to Kirwan included: Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, among others.

He took visits with Georgia, Kentucky, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech before deciding UNC is where he wanted to play college football.

Head coach Bill Belichick has done some wonderful things with this program, even if the results haven't exactly been there.

This is still a Tar Heels team that should become bowl eligible this season, and if not, they'll have some major questions to ask heading into the 2027 season.

Speaking of, UNC's class of 2027 is currently ranked No. 54 with 16 hard commits.

As seen this past offseason, Belichick did wonders for the Tar Heels in the portal, but that's not to say he shouldn't also be putting a ton of effort into recruiting.

With the class of 2028, that narrative is starting to change. Landing Kirwan merely hours after Kerr committed was a big deal, and while it's still incredibly early, UNC currently has the No. 15 overall recruiting class in 2028.
