The Florida Gators shocked the world as they improved to 5-2 (3-2) with a 27-24 win at No. 7 Texas.
The Longhorns fall to 4-2 (1-2) after Arch Manning fumbled the ball in the final two minutes.
Manning finished 14/20 for 173 yards with a touchdown. Texas had 99 yards on the ground, but it's worth noting 53 of those came on a pair of big carries from Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown.
Sophomore backup quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. stepped into the biggest situation of his life, and he may not have been perfect, but he got the job done, and that's all that matters.
The Gators made things as simple as possible for the Florida native, as he only averaged 4.4 yards per completion. In the end, he was 22/35 for 155 yards with a touchdown. To no surprise, it was the run game that carried them to victory.
Florida had more rushing yards than passing yards
Florida finished with more rushing yards (158) than they did passing (155). After a few rough games for former Heisman hopeful Jadan Baugh, he had 25 carries for 91 yards with a touchdown in this one.
Similar to Jones, his yards per attempt wasn't the greatest (3.6), but it didn't matter as Jones had 41 yards on the ground himself and then three other players all tallied rushing yards on the night.
Gators' defense was unbelievable
When Florida won at Auburn, they gave up 39 points so this defense still had a few question marks attached to it. Two weeks later, they gave up 45 points at Missouri and last week gave up 38.
The Gators had a week to prepare for Texas, and they seemed to have come up with the perfect game plan. Manning was sacked an astonishing five times, and this team finished with double-digit tackles for loss (11).
Special teams helped get the job done
In order to pull off a huge win in Austin, Florida needed to win in all three areas of the game.
Patrick Durkin was a perfect 2/2 with his field goals, and he made all three extra points. He's now 11/12 on field goal attempts this year.
London Montgomery had over 105 kick return yards, and while Jadan Baugh only had one punt return for four yards, punter Alec Clark had six punts for 311 yards. His 51.8-yard-per-punt average was incredible, and he pinned the Longhorns inside the 20-yard line on two occasions.
