The Last Time Ohio State Wore All Scarlet It was All Buckeyes Inside Ohio Stadium

This will be the second time in the last five years that the Buckeyes are going with their all-scarlet alternate jerseys, and it should make you feel really good about what is to come.

The last time that we saw the all-scarlet uniforms was the first time that we saw the Buckeyes after they lost in ridiculous fashion, against the Michigan Wolverines in 2024. They had the Friday night Playoff game against the Tennessee Volunteers, and it was a total party inside Ohio Stadium from start to finish.

Ohio State came out in a December night matchup on a night when all fans were encouraged to wear their scarlet gear. They lit the stadium up in what looked like neon scarlet, and then the Buckeyes took the field in their scarlet-on-scarlet uniform. It was an awesome look and an awesome environment that led to an incredible night.

The Buckeyes got off to a fast start against the Tennessee Volunteers, and the game was never in doubt. The Buckeyes took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter on the back of Jeremiah Smith and rolled to a win.

If it feels like a very similar spot to that night, that's because it is. Ohio State is fresh off a really bad loss, and their backs are against the wall. They have no other option than to win this football game, or else their hopes for a postseason are up in flames.

It's not going to be an easy task for the Buckeyes because they are getting an Oregon team that is experiencing their first bit of positive momentum of the season. They have worked their way through a really bad start, played some good football last week, and then got some very positive injury news for this game.

For Ohio State, this game is all about what they can do for themselves. There were so many issues last week that had nothing to do with the quarterback play. Luke Fahey was actually pretty solid last week, but he was let down by the rest of the team.

The lines of scrimmage need to be so much better on both sides of the ball; the play calling and personnel usage have to improve, and then, in big moments, they have to execute. The defense needs to eliminate the big plays, while the offense needs to create the big plays.

It's going to be a heck of a challenge for Ohio State, but they are going to be in some really sharp outfits to get it done.

Ducks and Bucks up next!
