It is the start of a new era for the Los Angeles Lakers' G League team, as it has moved to the Inland Empire and been renamed the Coachella Valley Lakers. It will be playing its games at Acrisure Arena, which will allow many fans throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to watch it inside a venue that seats 11,000 people.

The squad is expected to feature intriguing players such as forward Arthur Kaluma, who looked impressive during summer league play, guard Chris Mañon, rookie forward AK Okereke and possibly rookie guard Cameron Carr and second-year wing Adou Thiero.

Last season, the G League Lakers finished first in the Western Conference with a 26-10 record and made it to the Western Conference final, where they lost to the Stockton Kings.

Zach Guthrie was their head coach last season, but he has been promoted to an assistant coach and head of player development for the big league Lakers. They have yet to name a head coach for their G League squad.
