The initial SEC injury report was released for the Saturday matchup between the No. 19 Texas Longhorns and against the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday and while the Rebels have many more players on their side of the injury report, there are certainly some notable names for the Longhorns as well.

Texas star edge Colin Simmons is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s matchup after sustaining a high ankle sprain in the loss to Florida, while running back Hollywood Smothers is listed as questionable. Smothers reportedly missed practice on Monday due to a shoulder injury.

Other names listed for the Longhorns are wide receiver Kaliq Lockett and offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman (both questionable), as well as freshman edge Richard Wesley (out).

Simmons going down during the Florida game is a huge blow for the Texas defense, as he has been playing at an extremely high level. Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is going to need all hands on deck on Saturday to defend Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who has been one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country at the quarterback position, especially with the surprise news that Wesley is out.

On top of that, Ole Miss will likely have star running back Kewan Lacy back on the field, as he is listed as probable on tonight’s injury report.

Every game moving forward is a must-win for the Longhorns after dropping the last two matchups. They will need to get healthy moving forward as they try to navigate a difficult stretch in the schedule with eight straight games to close the season.
