Following their fifth win of the season on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns have been making headlines. That continued on Monday when linebacker Rasheem Biles was named the Southeastern Conference's Co-Defensive Player of the Week. It marked the second time this season that Biles won a weekly honor.

Against Ole Miss, Biles had four tackles, including one for a loss. He also added one interception and two pass breakups to his resume. With one of the Longhorns' main defensive pieces, Colin Simmons, out of action, Biles stepped up and made impact plays.

While the season is far from over, Biles showed on Saturday why he is a valuable piece. Through seven games, the Ohio native has 52 total tackles and three pass deflections. He also has three interceptions, a career high. During his time at Pittsburgh, Biles had three interceptions in his first three seasons.

Although Biles has had to adjust to a new system, he has made the transition seem easy. The talented senior ranks second on the team in total tackles and first in interceptions. As long as Biles builds on his recent play, he should remain at the top of the leaderboards.

With Biles leading the way, Texas ranks 1st nationally in team passing-efficiency defense and 15th in total defense. The Longhorns also rank 14th in the FBS in team tackles for loss and 19th in team sacks.

Up next, the Longhorns will host Mississippi State on Saturday night. To record another conference win and improve their playoff odds, Texas will need Biles to continue creating chaos on defense.
