Texas A&M enters Week 6 of the 2026 college football season at 3-2 and 1-2 in SEC play, set to face No. 14 Missouri in Columbia for the second straight season, as both teams are coming off blowout victories, while the Aggies are hoping that their newfound rushing success carries over after producing 231 yards and four touchdowns on the ground vs. Arkansas.
After defeating Florida 45-17, Ole Miss transfer quarterback Austin Simmons looks like a Heisman candidate and has vaulted Missouri in the College Football Playoff conversation, even after losing to Mississippi State earlier this season. Still, third-year coach Mike Elko has never lost to Missouri, defeating the Tigers 41-10 in 2024 and 38-17 last season.
This season, both teams are on different trajectories: Austin Simmons has played much better in the pocket than Texas A&M starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who struggled with accuracy and decision-making in both losses to Kentucky and LSU. Reed used his legs effectively against Arkansas, matching freshman running back KJ Edwards' 66 rushing yards and found the end zone once.
Defensively, Texas A&M's secondary has already been exposed several times this season, but will need to tighten up in coverage against Missouri wide receivers Cadyn Lee and Donovan Olugbode, who have combined for over 900 yards through five games.
