Texas A&M's 2026 season is spiraling out of control, as the Aggies are coming off their third loss in SEC play after falling 27-6 on the road vs. Missouri, failing to reach the end zone for the second time this season, as quarterback Marcel Reed has regressed as a passer during his second full starting season, while third-year coach Mike Elko's decision to elevate Holmon Wiggins as the program's offensive coordinator has been problematic, to say the least.

Sitting at 3-3 and 1-3 in SEC play, the Aggies will host The Citadel on Saturday afternoon before hitting the road to face Alabama in Tuscaloosa, then take on South Carolina, Oklahoma in Norman, and Texas at home to end the regular season. Right now, the Aggies are predicted to defeat The Citadel, and that's it.

Yes, ending the year at 4-8, based on what we've seen from the offense, is highly possible, but Mike Elko's track record of turning things around amid turmoil is less than stellar, as the Aggies lost three of four games to end the 2024 regular season, and two straight games in 2025, including the first-round 10-3 loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff.

Still, USA TODAY believes that the Aggies will win at least three more games to reach bowl game eligibility, as writer Erick Smith predicts Texas A&M will face Kansas State and former OC Collin Klein, now the Wildcats' head coach, in the Texas Bowl on December 31.

Right now, it's hard to see Texas A&M reaching six wins if this poor offensive play continues, as this weekend's final "guaranteed victory" matchup should feature backup quarterback Brady Hart and even freshman Helaman Casuga amid Marcel Reed's struggles.
