The No. 23 Texas A&M Aggies suffered a brutal 35-6 loss to the No. 10 LSU Tigers on Saturday. It was another highly questionable outing from quarterback Marcel Reed, as he struggled throughout the contest from beginning to end. However, while Reed continues to trend down, it doesn’t appear that Mike Elko is ready to switch things up.
When asked if he’s considering benching the senior quarterback, Elko provided an emphatic “no” to that question. Aggies fans should not expect a change anytime soon.

Reed had a tough time against LSU. He finished with just 106 passing yards and an interception, completing only 10 of his 26 pass attempts for a 38.4% completion percentage. That may well be the worst game of Reed’s collegiate career.
With four games under his belt this year, the 22-year-old signal caller has accumulated 738 passing yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions. He currently owns a 55.4% completion percentage, which is a career low, while also totaling 104 yards on the ground with an additional rushing touchdown.
His play from a season ago seems noticeably different. After scoring 25 touchdowns through the air and reaching 3,169 yards, expectations were much higher for Reed going into his senior year.
Texas A&M and Marcel Reed will have a chance to redeem themselves in Week 5. The Aggies are scheduled to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks, who are also 2-2 on the season. That matchup will kick off on Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m. EST.
