Tennessee football will wrap up its nonconference schedule against Kennesaw State before diving into SEC play.

The 14th-ranked Vols (2-0) face the Owls (1-1) on on Sept. 19 (7:45 p.m. ET, SEC Network) at Neyland Stadium.

This will be UT’s first game without tight end Ethan Davis, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury. It also wants to cut down on penalties, clean up special teams, expand the passing game with freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon and settle the rotation on defense.

It’s a long list for coach Josh Heupel, who wants a strong performance before the Vols host No. 1 Texas on Sept. 26.

UT has won 20 straight nonconference regular-season games. These programs have never played before, but there’s plenty of familiarity. Kennesaw State coach Jerry Mack was the Vols’ running backs coach from 2021-24, and he has three former UT assistants on his staff.
