Tennessee backup quarterback George MacIntyre replaced freshman starter Faizon Brandon in the second quarter against Auburn on Oct. 3.

"Faizon just wasn't operating. He wasn't feeling 100%," coach Josh Heupel told ESPN at halftime.

UT trailed 7-3 with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter when it swapped quarterbacks. MacIntyre finished the half 5-of-5 for 38 yards in relief.

The Vols had a terrible offensive start with Brandon and a makeshift offensive line.

Brandon was 3-of-8 passing for no yards and one interception. He also had four rushing attempts for minus-9 yards. That included sacks on back-to-back plays and a 12-yard loss on a lateral when he was hit attempting the pass.

Brandon's interception came deep in UT territory and gave Auburn's its first points of the game.

MacIntyre is a sophomore and former Brentwood Academy standout. He entered the game with 62 yards passing and one TD in three games as a backup this season.
