Texas A&M finally snapped its streak without touchdowns against ranked opponents, but the Aggies dropped their fourth conference game of the season, 31-20, to Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The Aggies boasted a 20-1 record while leading through the first three quarters under head coach Mike Elko entering the contest, but the Crimson Tide mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter to secure a crucial conference win. Texas A&M made too many costly mistakes, including punting the ball down 11 points with four minutes remaining, dropping them to 3-4 on the year and 1-4 in SEC play.

Despite turning up the heat in the second quarter, junior quarterback Marcel Reed was anything but flawless against the Tide, completing 67% of his passes for 163 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Reed also fumbled a snap in the fourth quarter, sparking Alabama's comeback.

The scoring streak has been snapped, but the losing streak hasn't

They’ve lost those 5 games by an average margin of 15.2 points.

Texas A&M had all the opportunities to put this one away

Questionable decision-making by Lyle Hemphill and Elko in this one

KJ Edwards led Texas A&M in rushing with 8 carries for 43 yards.
He had 3 carries in the final 3 quarters of the game.
He was averaging 7.4 YPC in the 1st quarter and got 3 touches after that… pic.twitter.com/HcjQO0FzBH

It will break your brain trying to wrap your head around this

Texas A&M Football goes 11-1 and makes the playoffs in 2025
And follows it up with this
4-4 overall
1-4 in SEC play

Confusing play-calling leads to confusion for the masses

Don’t even know what to say about this https://t.co/DupsuzxVH2

A&M down 11 points and punts the ball with four minutes left is certainly a decision

Texas A&M did not get the ball back, and the only person surprised by this is Mike Elko. https://t.co/HDRueeK7Q6

Confusing as to why Edwards didn't get more touches in the second half

KJ Edwards had HOW many carries in the second half?

The plummet continues for the Aggies

Texas A&M is now 4-4 (1-4 in conference play) heading into the Bye Week.
Who would’ve known. What a wild turnaround from last season.

Yeah, this game single-handedly defined watching SEC football in 2026

RECAP: Alabama 31, Texas A&M 20. FINAL. A&M led 20-17 in the 3rd. Then Bama scored 14 unanswered in the 4th and the upset died at Bryant-Denny. Dijon Lee's pick-six opened the day, Keelon Russell closed it. pic.twitter.com/aN5MSYNM4v

Horrible decision-making by Elko and company on the fourth-down punt with four minutes remaining

At a loss for words.
Your defense has struggled to get stops, and you’re asking them to get two three-and-outs AND your offense to score twice in a very short amount of time.
Worst-case, you don’t get it and you can still hold Alabama to a FG/keep it at a two-score game. https://t.co/IXd6riUluW
