Navy junior quarterback Jackson Gutierrez has made a massive leap in the fantasy world, jumping 29 spots to claim the top quarterback ranking for Week 10. Following his 28-carry, 110-yard, one-touchdown effort versus Notre Dame, this action occurred. The Irish defense usually holds teams to just 67.3 rushing yards per game, yet Gutierrez broke that mark before halftime. Yahoo Sports reports he now has rushing touchdowns in four consecutive games, totaling 979 yards and 13 scores this season. His next test is a matchup against Temple, whose defense ranks 124th in the country. That is a dream spot for a fantasy manager looking to start a running quarterback.

The Rushing King at North Texas

While Gutierrez takes the top spot among signal-callers, North Texas running back Jahiem White remains the overall FLEX1 player for the week. White has now scored in all eight games since he transferred to North Texas and has topped 100 rushing yards for five straight weeks. Despite the success, his coach Neal Brown still found something to criticize. The former West Virginia standout faces a Rice team that allows 175.0 rushing yards per game, which ranks 109th in the FBS. This matchup suggests White will keep racking up yards even if the coach wants more ball security.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends Shine

The rankings also see a big jump for Florida Atlantic wide receiver Easton Messer, who moved from FLEX4 to FLEX2 after a record-breaking night. In the defeat by North Texas, Messer secured 16 receptions totaling 189 yards along with three touchdowns. He will face UTSA on Thursday, and his team’s defense allows a staggering 35.8 points per game, hinting at more high-scoring fun. Duke running back Nate Sheppard holds the FLEX3 spot after setting a single-game record with five rushing touchdowns. He ran 20 times for 97 yards, bringing his total to 18 touchdowns for the season, a Duke single-season record. Boise State’s Dylan Riley also climbed the charts, moving from FLEX13 to FLEX4 with over 1,000 rushing yards.

South Carolina’s Turnaround Story

Beyond the fantasy rankings, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has become a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate after a rough start to the season. Just a month ago, many fans wanted him benched, but he has since led his team to wins over Florida, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. In these three victories, Sellers completed 60 of 91 passes for 790 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 257 yards and five more scores. Coach Shane Beamer noted the improvement after the win against Oklahoma, stating, “LaNorris is certainly playing better.” Sellers has made the Gamecock offense a nightmare to defend, even if he threw a pick-six against Oklahoma. The team now faces a tough stretch with games against Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Georgia before ending the season at Clemson. A nine-win season would be a miracle for Beamer given how the team looked dead in the water back in September.
