As expected, a notable name popped up on the initial availability report for the Tennessee Volunteers that the SEC released on Wednesday ahead of the Vols’ clash with the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon.

True freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon is listed on the report as questionable.

RB Javin Gordon is the only other player on the report in question for Saturday. Gordon missed Tennessee’s matchup with Auburn last weekend.

Brandon’s inclusion on the availability report is certainly a very interesting one, given he wasn’t on the report last week before the Auburn game. Brandon got banged up pretty badly against Texas. The Longhorns banged him up, sacking him 10 times, and sending him out of the game temporarily with a shoulder injury.

Heupel admitted this week that the shoulder is affecting him.

“Faizon obviously wasn’t at his best,” Heupel said on Monday during his press conference. “He was dealing with getting injured in the Texas game. It was affecting his game.”

ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel said that George MacIntyre will start on Saturday against Arkansas, so it’s certainly looking iffy that we’ll see Brandon at all on Saturday. We’ll perhaps find out more one way or the other later in the week if Brandon’s status level improves, or drops, ahead of Saturday.
